English as a Second Language

Free Weekly Classes at FUMC Austin

Practice speaking and understanding English while meeting people from around the world.

Classes are free, and new students are always welcome. No registration is required. 
Please note that these classes are not designed for beginners. Students should already be able to speak basic English. Classes are offered at the intermediate and advanced levels for those who want to become more comfortable and confident speaking English.

In Person

In-person classes begin Thursday, September 10.

Classes meet Mondays and Thursdays from 10:00AM–12:00PM.

If you are able, we strongly encourage you to attend in person. Face-to-face conversations can help you learn more quickly and build friendships with other students.

Parking: The FUMC Austin parking lot is not available for English classes. Please plan to use metered street parking, public transportation, or drop-off. There is free parking available  a short walk away at the Capitol Visitor's Garage on San Jacinto. 

No registration is required. Just come to class!

Zoom classes meet Mondays from 10:00AM–12:00PM.

Inspiring Stories Class

New Opportunity

Mondays from Noon-1:00PM

In addition to our regularly scheduled in-person classes on Mondays and Thursdays, we are offering a new Inspiring Stories class on Mondays from Noon to 1:00PM.

The class meets immediately after the Monday morning class and explores uplifting themes such as gratitude, faith, and service.
