First United Methodist Church of Austin offers many options for marrying couples to consider when planning their wedding. The staff will be happy to help you plan your event. We have a wedding coordinator that will work with you and/or your wedding planner to insure you have a wonderfully planned memory.

Facilities

Murchison Chapel
A small chapel suited for smaller, more intimate gatherings. It has beautiful stained glass windows with a seating capacity for 96 guests and standing room for 12. It is a cozy, warm chapel with the comfort of love surrounding you.

Sanctuary
The Sanctuary has a seating capacity of 750, including the balcony area. However, the average wedding size is normally 200-300 guests. The setting is very traditional with a center aisle & four (4) side aisles. We have a magnificent pipe organ as well as a beautiful baby grand piano. The stained glass windows are stunning. The acoustics are exceptional. The FUMC Sanctuary is, indeed, a glorious place for a wedding.

Reception

Family Life Center
We have additional space for reserving your reception in our Schmidt/Jones Family Life Center. These facilities include a fully functional commercial kitchen. This facility can handle up to 500 guests and seating for 350. However, we do not allow smoking or alcohol on the premises. Caterers are always welcome.

Schedule

Weddings are normally scheduled for Saturdays with the rehearsal on Friday evenings. We do not schedule weddings on Sundays or Holidays.

Online payment is available at this link. Please select “Wedding Deposits & Fees” on the drop-down menu, and put the couple’s name in the notes field. Check out as a guest if you are not a member of FUMC.
