Worship is at the heart of all we do at First Church. Our primary reason for gathering is to worship God, but the work of the church does not stop there. We make and share lasting friendships. We learn the needs of others and find compassion to help meet those needs. We are served during our special times of need by those who have knelt with us at Holy Communion, participated with us in baptisms, joined with us in congregational prayer, and sung with us the great hymns of the church.
Sermons by our pastors are Biblically centered, seeking to inspire, uplift, inform and challenge us to be good stewards of both the mysteries and the gifts of God. Special attention is given to making sermons relevant to the world in which we live.
Our music program is rich and varied, including offerings by adult choirs, instrumental ensembles, and occasional music by children’s choirs, youth choirs, handbell choirs, and orchestral accompaniments.
Since 1840, First Church has been a vibrant, loving and mission-oriented community in service to the people of Austin and the world. All we are and all we do flows from our common worship and love of God. We are able to reach out and love others because God first loved us.
Come and worship with us! If you have questions about worship services, please ask one of our pastors.
