Due to facility scheduling conflicts, the Women’s Slumber Party will be rescheduled to a later date. Stay tuned for more details!
Some of our members may recall an annual event called the “Women’s Slumber Party,” which our church held every winter for several years – long, long ago.
By popular demand, we want to bring it back! So, all women members, visitors, and their guests (ages 18 and older and out of high school), please mark your calendars for Friday night, January 26, 2018 and plan to spend a fun evening eating, chatting, playing games, watching chick-flicks, and did we mention eating? (Lent will not have begun yet, so we’re getting this in before anyone has to give up anything.) Remember when you were in high school and you grabbed a bedroll and went to your best friend’s house on Friday night after the game? We can offer the same comfy accommodations (the floor) in our lovely Family Life Center. We hope all participants will spend the night, and we will have a simple breakfast on Saturday morning, followed by a short worship service and Communion, and you will be home before lunch on Saturday. If you cannot spend the night, please consider joining us on Friday evening, but we will have quiet rooms for those who just have to sleep.
This is a wonderful opportunity to meet all the great women you see reading the Scriptures on Sunday mornings, singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School, and sitting near you at worship. As Cheryl Bias remarked recently, “I see all these cool women making announcements or leading in other ways, and I’d really like to know them!”
This event is in the formative stages, and we would like to have some help organizing it. If you would like to be a part of reviving this tradition at FUMC, please email Ann Young at firstname.lastname@example.org or (512) 517-2212. We would like to schedule a planning meeting soon, and would love to have a representative from each adult Sunday School class participate in the planning.
