Creating Spirit, Practicing Presence: Making a Joyful Noise

Zoom Online TX

Join us for the 2nd workshop of our series, Creating Spirit, Practicing Presence, when we will explore music as spiritual practice. Music plays a significant role in worship at FUMC-Austin, with our choir, handbells, our pipe organ, and our congregational singing. Methodism is often recognized as “a faith that sings.” Why is music so important to us? Some might think these things are nonessential, however, we know better! Though we might not sing together at the moment, we can develop a creative spiritual practice with music to sustain us until we can be together again. Facilitated by Amy Wink, this workshop is for anyone who is curious about creative spiritual practices and enjoys music. You do not have to be able to sing or play an instrument! Zoom link provided after registration.

Zoom Online TX

Antiracism is a transformative concept that reorients and reenergizes the conversation about racism—and, even more fundamentally, points us toward liberating new ways of thinking about ourselves and each other. In How to Be an Antiracist, Kendi takes readers through a widening circle of antiracist ideas—from the most basic concepts to visionary possibilities—that will help readers see all forms of racism clearly, understand their poisonous consequences, and work to oppose them in our systems and in ourselves.
