A Note from UMW at FUMC
We had a wonderful luncheon on Sunday, March 5th that left us re-energized and excited to work together for justice through service and advocacy. Thanks to the 31 people who joined us to talk about maternal and child health. At the meeting, we shared our thoughts about both global and local issues, including but not limited to: Texas’s maternal death rate, access to birth control, sex trafficking, women’s mental health, sex education, Child Protective Services and the foster care system. We also shared ideas about service and advocacy: volunteering at the Refuge, collecting for Austin Diaper Bank, volunteering at the Montopolis Friendship Community Center; and sharing the materials from the “Created by God” sex ed series.
After the luncheon, we sent out a survey to follow up on some of these topics. If you have not had a chance to participate, please do so. Here is the link https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/JBZG6XG. The survey will close on May 7.
