FUMC is joining with other faith communities around Austin for the National Launch Event for The Banner Project.
The Banner Project is an interfaith project confronting anti Muslim bigotry with compassion and community. Faith groups are asked to hang a banner and stand with our Muslim neighbors.
Lincoln said, we must live by “the better angels of our nature” but it seems we are increasingly consorting with the worst – our toxic cultural climate in America is making it more acceptable to hate Muslims. Unanswered messages of hate and fear increase both. We hope to get faith groups of all kinds, across the country, to display the banner, “We stand with Our Muslim Neighbors” and show a message of love and rejection of hate.
The Banner Project is sponsored by Interfaith Action for Human Rights, T’ruah: The Rabbinic Call for Human Rights and the Shoulder to Shoulder Campaign, #hangthisbanner.
