Take Home Your Own Piece of FUMC History
You have the opportunity to own a piece of FUMC history in the form of one of the decorative masonry elements that have topped the Sanctuary Building roof since 1928. As part of our ongoing restoration project, all of these decorative elements will be replaced. Before the original decorative elements are discarded at the end of the month, we currently have a number of finials (27″ tall, 77″ wide, weighing approximately 700 lbs) and clamshells (21″ tall, 25″ wide, weighing approximately 500 lbs) available to be appreciated and rehomed by you.
While the decorative elements are free to those who claim them, there will be a cost associated with the pickup and delivery of the stone to your home. If you are interested in one of these pieces, please note that, upon delivery, these heavy cast stone pieces need to rest on level ground and the place you choose to display them needs to be easily accessible and not far from the place the delivery trailer can park. Our delivery target is Saturday, August 10. For more information, to share your interest, and to arrange delivery, contact Mark Steves, Director of Special Projects.
