“On the Road to Freedom: Are We There Yet?”
Spring Break Roadtrip | March 12-16, 2016
Cost: $350/person (lunch and dinner on your own and based on quadruple room occupancy of 2 nights in a hotel, 2 nights in a church)
Join University UMC, First UMC and St. John’s UMC as we take a life-changing trip to stand where so many before us stood to fight for racial justice. We live in a country that has made advances on racial reconciliation but … are we really there yet?
We will be loading a charter bus the morning of March 12 and drive to Jackson, Mississippi for our first stop. Other stops will include Selma and Birmingham in Alabama, and Memphis, Tennessee. We will conclude our trip with a day of fun at Six Flags Arlington. We will arrive back to Austin late on the evening of March 16, giving your family another 4 days of Spring Break together!
We will spend two nights in a hotel and two nights hosted by local area churches. This trip is open to individuals and families—youth and adults. Our hope is to be intergenerational.
A deposit of $50 is required per person by December 6.
