Reach Beyond Mission is the middle school mission trip for FUMC youth that have completed 6th, 7th and 8th grades. The trip provides an opportunity for youth to learn about urban challenges such as poverty and housing while also serving within the community.
Reach Beyond Mission is returning to Houston in 2016 to learn about poverty and racism. Our group will learn how racism impacts poverty. Youth will practice listening and sharing in honest discussion and serve in a variety of social service organizations and ministries. Houston is the 4th largest city in the U.S. and recent research indicates that the Houston metro area may be the most ethnically diverse.
Service Partners include:
- The Beacon
- The Center for Healing Racism
- Christian Community Service Center
- Star of Hope
The tentative date scheduled is July 17 – 22th and the cost is $310 per youth. Registration and a $50 deposit are due by January 31st. More information will be available in January. For questions, please contact Michelle Cato, Director of Youth and Family Ministries, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
