Summer Mission Trip

Reach Beyond Mission

Reach Beyond Mission is the middle school mission trip for FUMC youth that have completed 6th, 7th and 8th grades. The trip provides an opportunity for youth to learn about urban challenges such as poverty and housing while also serving within the community.

As followers of Jesus we are called to feed the hungry. Many churches work diligently reaching out to their communities, yet more than 15% of American households experience food insecurity at some point in any given year. One in five American children are hungry. How can we go beyond charity and work to end hunger?

Join us Summer 2022 for our annual Middle School service trip. Registration is now open. We’ll be traveling to Albuquerque, NM, July 16-23. Registration is $100 and total cost is $350. Please register as soon as possible to help us have an idea of how many youth are going. If you need to make a payment for Reach Beyond, you can pay online.

Connect for Tweens

All 5th, 6th, and 7th graders are invited to Connect, a program just for Tweens! We cook dinner together, play games, and talk about pre-teen life.

Connect bridges First UMC’s children and youth ministries through building relationships, serving, and helping youth connect with one another and with God during the transitional pre-teen years. Connect meets three Fridays each semester from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the Family Life Center.

Spring 2022 Dates:

      • Friday, February 11
      • Friday, April 8

Drop-off and pick-up will be at the FLC. For more information, contact

Middle School Retreat

Each fall (Typically late October) we take our Middle School group on a fall retreat in the Texas hill country. They get to experience the outdoors, over-the-top activities, campfires, and faith formation, all while building meaningful relationships with youth from local churches. Cost generally is $150 and includes travel, lodging, activities, meals, and a t-shirt.
