About Us
Seeking to grow in love with God and toward one another
The First UMC Austin youth program seeks to reach all areas of our city. Through our worship, programming, trips, retreats, fun nights and Bible studies, we seek to grow in love toward God and toward each other by cultivating a community of faith and friendship that welcomes all youth, nurtures the spiritual life of everyone involved and serves God’s world. We know and understand that it is very possible to have a blast while striving to be all that God calls us to be.
Some special things you will find in our program are: an emphasis on hands-on missions with work weeks in Appalachia and Austin; Sunday evening sessions that combine an emphasis on prayer and the spiritual life with lively programs and fellowship; and highly committed adult sponsors.
Most weekly events take place in the FUMC Family Life Center, which is located across the street diagonally from the church on the northwest corner of Lavaca Street and 13th Street.

Safety Training
A Rio Texas Conference Child, Youth, and Vulnerable Adult Safety Policy went into effect in June 2018. To be in compliance, all FUMC ministry staff and volunteers who work with these groups must be certified through a 3-step process.
The first two steps are available online at www.safegatherings.com. The final step may be completed in an upcoming Rio Texas training session. Registration is required at riotexas.org/safetrainings. All three steps are summarized in this pdf, Trusted Con Confianza 3 Steps and Trusted Con Confianza 3 Steps Recertification and on our Conference Safety Training webpage. For more information, or to determine if you are required to be certified, please contact Emily Buchanan.
