Numerous families in the Crossroads and Coastal Bend Districts remain displaced from the devastation of Hurricane Harvey. First UMC plans to respond by sending mission teams this year to aid with long-term recovery. Volunteers, including youth ages 14 and up, are invited to join our mission team which will travel to Sinton, TX (near Corpus Christi) to help with the rebuild effort. Our first trip is planned for July 15-18.
An information meeting will be held on Sunday, May 13 at 10:00 a.m. in Murchison Chapel. Regardless of your age or experience, this is an opportunity for all of First Church to come together to help. For more information, please contact Pastor Cathy Stone at firstname.lastname@example.org or 512-478-5684 ext. 215.
Imagine losing everything in your home—not just household items, but family photos, childhood toys or a favorite book. This is what thousands of people experienced with Hurricane Harvey. As we watched, many of us were filled with compassion but may have been unsure how to help. The opportunities to help have grown as individuals and families have started the difficult task of rebuilding. In response, First UMC plans to send mission teams this year to aid with long-term recovery.
