March for Our Lives

June 11 @ 9:30 am - 12:00 pm

March for Our Lives

Saturday, June 11 | 10:00AM-Noon
Texas State Capitol Grounds
The United Methodist Church urges “congregations to advocate at the local and national level for laws that prevent or reduce gun violence.” You can learn more here. We marched in 2018 when students organized the first March for Our Lives after the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. But in the last month alone, mass shootings have injured at least 332 people and killed 92, including 10 in an act of racial violence in Buffalo, NY, and 22 children and teachers at Ross Elementary School in Uvalde, TX. Once again, it’s time to join communities across the nation calling for an end to gun violence. Invite your neighbors, family, and friends to join their voices with ours!
The Mercy & Justice team invites you to gather in Wesley Hall at 9:30AM for a poster making party and then move across to the Capitol together. One of the gifts that FUMC can contribute to collective advocacy is our location. We need a team to host the poster party and provide hospitality/restrooms for the public during the march. If you’re interested in serving in this way, email Pastor Cathy Stone or or sign up below. We hope to see you Saturday!
