Announcement of Renewal Leave
We are excited to share that Pastor Cathy Stone will be on renewal leave April 17-July 8. The Book of Discipline encourages full-time clergy to take regular renewal leave as a part of the rhythm of respite and sabbath that supports spiritual health and longevity in ministry.
Pastor Cathy is currently serving her 12th year under appointment in the Rio Texas Conference and we are lucky that all of them have been here at First Church! Her ministry and pastor presence bring life and vitality to our congregation and we are grateful for the opportunity to allow her the rest and refreshment every pastoral needs.
While renewal leave does not require a completed project or product at the end, Pastor Cathy is a life-long learner and will be spending a portion of her time in Costa Rica learning Spanish, a dream she has had for a long time. She will also spend time traveling with husband Jeff and their two pups, enjoying the great outdoors…and reading books. While she is away, she will not be responding to email, texts, phone calls, smoke signals, or carrier pigeon. Pastor Cathy is working with staff and volunteers so that there is continuity of care for all the ministries she relates to, and as always, Pastor Taylor and Pastor Brad are available for pastoral care as needs arise.
