World Communion Sunday is October 4. This special Sunday celebrates that the family of Christ overcomes geographical barriers to include persons of every locality, race, culture, and nationality. It affirms that our identity as Christians is more fundamental than the other identities we have as Austinites, Texans, or even Americans. This day takes on new relevance in a time when fear divides the peoples of God’s earth.
To celebrate our oneness in Christ, we will display flags from various nations around the balcony. In different languages, we will greet each other in the name of Christ. The communion rail offering will provide scholarships for international students who are preparing for ministry and service careers .
