Welcome Rev. Taylor Fuerst
It is with joy we share the news of Bishop Janice Huie’s appointment of the Rev. Taylor Fuerst to First UMC Austin as Senior Pastor, beginning July 1, 2016. District Superintendent Teresa Welborn introduced Rev. Fuerst at a meeting of the Staff Parish Relations Committee yesterday evening. Rev. Fuerst currently serves as Senior Pastor of Westbury United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas.
Her previous appointments include: Associate Director of The Center for Clergy Excellence for the Texas Annual Conference, and Associate Pastor of St. Luke’s UMC in Houston, Texas. She graduated with high honors from Duke University Divinity School with a M.Div. in 2006.
Rev. Taylor Fuerst is married to Rev. Bradley Fuerst, who is a Lutheran minister (ECLA) and has been called to lead the Lutheran Campus Ministry at University of Texas at Austin. Together they have three children: Holden (6), Hadley (4), and Harper (2).
“I am excited about the leadership skills which Rev. Fuerst will bring to FUMC,” commented Rev. John Wright. “She has done exceptionally transformative work in the urban, multicultural setting of her current appointment, the details of which we hope to share in the near future.”
