Tuesdays, March 7, 14, 21, 28, April 4, 11
6:30-7:30 p.m., La Madeline, 5493 Brodie Lane
Join us Tuesday nights in Lent as we read and discuss Dr. James Cone’s “The Cross and the Lynching Tree”. Cone helps us face the question, “Where is the gospel of Jesus’ cross revealed today?” Not only does he delve into theological issues of atonement, suffering and theodicy, but he also connects the cross to America’s history in terms of civil rights, lynching, and current abuses in the criminal justice system.
We have a Facebook group for online discussion as well as meeting in person. All are welcome to join us online and/or in person at La Madeline. Please read the Introduction and Chapter One (“Nobody Knows de Trouble I See”) for March 7. Contact Pastor Cathy at firstname.lastname@example.org or 512-478-5684 (ext. 215) for additional information.
