Inter-Faith Worship Service: What It Means to be a Child of Abraham
Our worship service will be devoted to the theme of what unites us as Jews, Christians, and Muslims–a service that expresses our solidarity as children of God, children of Abraham, and People of the Book. I have invited a rabbi and an imam to join me in addressing “What It Means to Be a Child of Abraham” respectively from a Jewish, Muslim, and Christian perspective.
Just as we address the problem of racism in America in worship on September 6th, it is important for us to address the problem of xenophobia, especially in light of the number of hate crimes against Muslims and Jews in America and Europe and anti-Muslim sentiments expressed by some Texas legislators earlier this year. We must not allow terrorist acts by Islamic extremists cause us to stereotype all Muslims or to give in to fear of those who are different from us.
I hope you will invite your friends to come!
