Dear First Church Family,
Throughout the Who We Are project last fall, I heard a desire to increase our commitment to children and youth as they become faithful disciples and servants in the world. Again and again, you voiced a strong desire to form and transform the lives of young people. This is incredibly important work for the Church! This Easter, I am asking you to take a step in that direction. For our special Easter Offering, please consider giving beyond your usual commitment to FUMC in order to support a much needed update to our children’s ministry spaces.
These spaces have served our children well for years, but they have begun to look tired and show visible damage from years of use. As you can see from the photos below, the paint needs a refresh, stucco on the wall needs repair, and the flooring needs replacement. It is time for the whole area to be modernized and reflect the appearance of other updated spaces in the church, while also offering a bright, cheerful, and welcoming space where our families will look forward to gathering. An update will also communicate to visitors that our church is committed to children and their families.
Our goal is to raise an offering of $20,000 for this project. This is a stretch for us—nearly twice our typical Easter Offering—but with the commitment I heard you express last fall, I believe we can meet it. If we exceed our goal, every penny will remain with this project, enabling us to make even greater improvements. We will also invite participation from the families enrolled in our preschool, many of whom are not church members.
As your Pastor, and as a mother of young children, I thank you for your commitment to loving, teaching, and encouraging young people as they become faithful followers of Christ. I am so excited to see what God is unfolding before us!
As we wait and prepare for the completion of the season of Lent and the great feast of Easter, all of you remain in my prayers.
God’s peace be with you!
Pastor Taylor Fuerst
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! By his great mercy he has given us a new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead
