Summer is a time for vacation, rejuvenation, and recreation, right? If a trip to the pristine beaches or high mountains (or whatever is your favorite place) isn’t in the cards for you this summer, how about trying mini-vacations at FUMC? During the summer, a series of introduction to mindfulness meditation sessions will take place in Murchison Chapel.
The words of the introduction to labyrinth brochure used during Holy Week, in comparing a maze to a labyrinth, expressed the condition of many of our lives right now. “A maze”, the brochure said, “is designed to make you lose your way. A labyrinth is designed to help you find it.” Life in the world today often feels like a maze. In the midst of too many voices too loudly raised, how and where do we find the voice of truth?
For some in our congregation, the path of mindfulness practice has provided a welcome respite – a place to find the inner resources to actively serve a chaotic world from a place of strength and peace. For those who haven’t yet tried it, that path may seem foreign or intimidating. If you would like a safe place to explore a new path, or revisit an old one, join us; June 25, July 23, August 27, Murchison Chapel, 9:00 a.m.
