In support of Hunger and Homelessness Awareness, FUMC is hosting a food drive benefiting Caritas, a non-profit organization that helps prevent homelessness, poverty, and hunger in Central Texas. Caritas provides take-home groceries to its clients, this year providing enough groceries for 43,000 meals. When you are struggling to make ends meet and must choose between putting food on the table and paying the electric bill, weekly groceries from the Caritas Pantry bring great relief to families moving toward stability.
Throughout November, we are collecting some of their most needed items:
- Canned chicken
- Dried beans (northern and black)
- Canned pineapple
- Canned fruit cocktail
- Small containers of cooking oil
- Canned mixed vegetables
- Canned beets
- Canned garbanzo beans
- Soups (cream of tomato, cream of mushroom, beef stew, and cream of chicken)
Donations may be left in the collection bins located in the foyers of the Sanctuary, Chapel and Family Life Center.
