Driving & Parking
First United Methodist Church is located on the northeast corner of Lavaca Street & 12th Street, on the west side of the Capitol in downtown Austin. The FUMC Family Life Center is located across the street diagonally from the church, on the northwest corner of Lavaca Street and 13th Street.
Parking (Church Business Only)
As a downtown church, parking is always an issue for our church family and, as we grow, it becomes more so. On Sundays, members are urged to use the garage facilities to free up closer spaces for our guests.
Sunday Parking

Metered spaces are free (please reserve close spaces for visitors and the handicapped)

All spaces in the church parking lot, immediately north of the main building are open (please reserve close spaces for visitors and the handicapped)

Trial Lawyers' Garage (southwest corner of 13th and Lavaca) is available on Sundays from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. (Enter on 13th)

Stokes Garage (southeast corner of 12th and Guadalupe) is available ONLY on Sunday mornings
Wednesday Service Parking
- Wednesday Noon Communion Service attendees may park in unmarked spaces in the church parking lot; metered spaces charge during the day
- Wednesday Evening Service attendees may park in the church parking lot, or in nearby metered spaces, which are free in the evenings
- Trial Lawyers' Garage (southwest corner of 13th and Lavaca) is available for parking on Wednesdays from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. (Enter on 13th)
During Business Hours (8 a.m. to 6 p.m.)
- Parking for church business is available in unmarked spaces in the church parking lot. Preschool spots may be used after 1 p.m. Please do not park in the Trial Lawyers' reserved spots. They will tow.
- Metered spaces charge 25 cents for 15 minutes until 6 p.m. Ticketing is enforced.
After Hours
- Metered spaces are free
- All spaces in the church parking lot are available
